Sunday Update 2016-2

Every now and again, I get my act together enough to put up a Sunday post!

I'm hooking into:

This is a meme hosted by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer wherein everyone gets to share their news for the week. It's a great opportunity to see what's happening out there in the blogosphere, so go check out some other Sunday Posters!

Today's post is going to have a few sections:

1. General Update

2. Currently...

3. Last Week/Next Week

4. Mid-Month Challenges Check-in

5. Managing Expectations

1. General Update

The first two weeks of the year have gone pretty well for me overall. I've read some great books and some not-so-great books. I've been taking better care of myself in terms of healthy eating and exercise. I've been putting in time on some projects that are near and dear to my heart. All good things! I'm hoping the second half of the year is as successful!

2. Currently...

This is a meme I've borrowed from Coffee Bean Bookshop"Currently" is a questionnaire style update about what's going on at the moment in my life;

Reading: The Knave of Hearts by Elizabeth Boyle
Watching: Old episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Playing: Payday 2 and Pathfinder (both the board game and the RPG)
Feeling: Frustrated that I didn't present myself better when I tried to go after a potential opportunity this past week. I learned a lot by completely botching it, but it was a rough way to learn.
Loving: Watching my daughter at her swim lessons. She puts her best foot forward each week, trying things even when she's nervous or uncomfortable, and I can see her getting better and better.
Hating: That I'm on the thin-skinned side rather than the thick.
Planning: More house organization tasks
Wanting: Permission to gobble a chocolate bar.
Thinking: About new colour schemes for this blog.

3. Last Week/Next Week

Last week was a solid one for posts:

My Secret to Tell by Natalie D Richards - YA, mystery, 4 stars
Mid-Week Musing, 2  - I talked a wee bit about Bookbub, which inflated my TBR this week
Because of You by RaShelle Workman - Contemporary Romance, New Adult, 3.5 stars
Stacking the Shelves, 2016-2 - Wherein I listed all the books I picked up this week and promised to grab fewer next week.

This coming week, you can expect to see reviews for Kill Without Mercy by Alexandra Ivy and The Art of Taming a Rake by Nicole Jordan.

4. Mid-Month Challenges Check-in

I signed up for a bunch of challenges this year. So far I'm doing decently at keeping up with them.  I'm just under half-way on all the reading ones, if I divide them across the year. The one thing I need to focus on is getting my Netgalley reviews in. I've requested a bunch of books to fill in through mid-March, so now I need to get them all read, reviewed and submitted to get my percentage up!

  2. I'm in the same boat with NetGalley books. I have a feeling I'll be working on getting caught up for a long while. At least I am still excited about the books I have commited to read. :-) I am glad your month has gotten off to a good start. I really need to make time to work on house organizing tasks. I hope you continue to have a great month!

  3. I'm too thin-skinned as well. The smallest criticism really hits hard and I hate that.

I also hate household organisation stuff. I've had plumbing and electrical problems and it feels like such a hassle even though I know it's not that bad!
