Blog Tour: Artificial by Jadah McCoy

The always delightful Curiosity Quills Press let me join in on this blog tour for Artificial by Jadah McCoy. This is science fiction with a heart. And some really freaky, bio-engineered monsters. As, you know, science fiction tends to have.

This book is the first in a planned trilogy, and with a cover this gorgeous, I couldn't resist hopping on board!

Blog Tour: Inconceivable! by Tegan Wren

Today, let's talk about Tegan Wren's Inconceivable! This book was published Curiosity Quills on November 16th, and I have to say that I love, love, love its cover. I think it's adorable. And the silhouettes appear in the book at the beginning of each chapter, which is also pretty darn adorable. I'm hosting a tour stop today, so stick around for an excerpt and giveaway!

Blog Tour: Alice Takes Back Wonderland by David Hammons

Today I want to introduce you to Alice Takes Back Wonderland by David Hammons. This is a fairy-tale mash-up that's getting some really fantastic reviews over on Goodreads and Amazon.

I have to confess that I haven't read all the way through this one--work sometimes intrudes on my precious reading time--but I'm really looking forward to it. The first couple chapters are quite compelling!

Blog Tour: Born of Treasure by Jordan Elizabeth

Today I want to discuss Jordan Elizabeth's western steampunk sequel, Born of Treasure. Released September 21st by Curiosity Quills Press, this book is the sequel to Treasure, Darkly. Featuring a young man with the recently attained ability to bring the dead back to life, and to communicate with ghosts, Born of Treasure is quite entertaining!

Come back tomorrow for my last review on the Curiosity Quills Press September Releases Review Tour!

Blog Tour: Hour of Mischief by Aimee Hyndman

Released on September 7th, 2015, by Curiosity Quills Press, Hour of Mischief by Aimee Hyndman is a fascinating action-filled, clockwork-fantasy adventure. I was drawn in by the lovely cover by Amy Chitulescu and I hung around because this is exactly the kind of book I have come to love Curiosity Quills for publishing. The aesthetic is sublime, but above and beyond that, this is a smart-assed, action-adventure story that reminds me in tone of the Indiana Jones movies--a fast enough, high-stakes plot to keep things rolling, but enough humour to keep me engaged, and make me want to come back to re-read.

I'll be participating in an additional two stops on Curiosity Quills' September Releases Review Tour - come back on October 2nd and 3rd for those reviews!

Blog Tour: Clockwork Menagerie by Karen Kincy

Released on September 1st, 2015, by Curiosity Quills Press, Clockwork Menagerie by Karen Kincy is a novella in the Shadows of Asphodel series. This one plugs into the series at #2.5. I've read the first book, and I Kickstartered the second, when they were being self-published. I haven't actually read book two yet though! Call this one "Historical-fantasy romance" (the publisher does). It's got that dieselpunk aesthetic with a big dash of romance and magic to liven things up.

I'm really happy to be hosting a stop on this novella's blog tour.

Blog Tour: Prophet of the Badlands by Matthew Cox

I've really enjoyed some of the fantasy and science fiction put out by Curiosity Quills Press over the last couple years. As it happens, I managed to attend the Facebook release party for Prophet of the Badlands by Matthew Cox, and I found Cox and his cohorts to be quite a fun group! When the opportunity came up to participate in the book review tour for this book, I leapt. And whoa, this one is a doozy!

COVER REVEAL: Zhukov's Dogs by Amanda Cyr

I am so, so excited to share with you the delightfully different cover for Amanda Cyr's Zhukov's Dogs. This book will be published by Curiosity Quills Press on October 27th, 2014.

This one is a new adult, science fiction, action adventure that sounds pretty epic in scope. I had a great streak with science fiction books earlier this year, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Check out the blurb:

Lieutenant Colonel Nik Zhukov is just like any other desensitized seventeen-year-old living in the year 2076. At least he likes to think he is when he isn’t busy eliminating threats to national security, breaking up terrorist organizations, and trying not to get blown up. It’s all in a normal day’s work for one of the military’s top dogs, and he’s never disappointed. Never failed. Never lost sight of his dream of making it to the elite force, even as each new job forces him to see just how morally corrupt his leaders are.

On the verge of promotion, Nik is dispatched to the underground city beneath the icy Seattle tundra, his final mission handed down directly from The Council. It should have been a simple in-and-out, but the underground is full of dark secrets and he soon finds himself swept into battles, lying to his best friend back east, and growing a bit too close to the rebels he was sent to spy on.

Nik realizes too late that he’s broken the number one rule within his ranks; he’s allowed himself to feel normal for the first time in his life. He might be able to turn the job around, become the soldier he was once was, except for his growing attachment to the rebel leader. A guy. Yet another first for Nik. It’s a mistake he pays for dearly when he learns The Council’s true intentions for the city.

It’s never ‘just harmless fun’ when you’re a government dog, not when The Council holds the leash. Nik knows there are some lines you can never come back from crossing, and he’s forced to choose whose rules to play by. He races toward the invisible divide, aware he’ll be called traitor by both his nation and by his friends. Aware that even the right choice can be deadly to make.

The talented Alexandria Thompson of Gothic Fate is the cover artist, and you'll be clicking through to check out more of her work after you see the cover:

COVER REVEAL: Untaken by J.E. Anckorn

Today we're celebrating the cover reveal for J. E. Anckorn's Untaken. This book releases on October 16th, 2014, published by Curiosity Quills Press. Described as a young-adult, action-adventure, science fiction novel, Untaken explores what happens when aliens invade and you're only fourteen years old.

Check out the blurb:

It turns out that a real alien invasion is nothing like the Sci-fi shows 14-year-old Gracie loves. Not when it’s your own family who are swallowed whole by those big silver ships. Not if it could be you next.

In her search for her family, Gracie meets Brandon, a high school dropout who would never have been caught dead hanging out with a dork like Gracie before the world ended. Gracie isn’t too crazy about Brandon either, but he has one thing she doesn’t: A plan.

Brandon’s uncle has a cabin up in Maine, and If Gracie and Brandon can survive long enough to get there they can hide out until the Space Men pack up their ships and leave.
Until the army guys come to rescue them, says Brandon. Brandon is big into army guys.

Gracie has to admit that Brandon’s Awesome Plan probably would have worked out great if wasn't for Jake.

They found 5-year-old Jake, laying half-dead under the remains of someone’s ranch house. He’s a good kid, even if he won’t-or can’t- talk.

But Jake has a secret, and when Gracie finds out what it is, the fragile new life they’ve started to forge looks set to break apart.

When the people you’ve been counting on to put the world back together start hunting you down, alien invaders are the least of your worries.
Sounds like there are lots of twists and turns in this one. Slightly outside of my normal wheelhouse, I suspect this book will be rather refreshing for me. I'm looking forward to going on an adventure with Gracie, Brandon and Jake in October

And now the big moment, the cover, please:
