Stacking the Shelves - Episode 2, 2015

Stacking the Shelves is an awesome meme hosted by Tynga's Review.

Bloggers share the books they've received, bought, borrowed - and I collect more and more books for my 'must acquire' list.

I was pretty responsible this week and showed restraint in my book acquisitions.

Note: All blurbs are straight from Goodreads.

It's in His Kiss by Catie Quinn

Jenna's been letting life pass her by as she works on her career. But, when she needs to do some research of this kissing kind, things may get a little more heated than she expected. Research has never been so fun.

WARNING: This 11k short has no vampires, shape shifter or scorching sex, but it might make you snort your diet Coke out your nose.

Chelsea's Thoughts: I read and reviewed The Catching Kind this past week and really enjoyed it. Wonderfully, I found this short available for the low, low price of *free* on Amazon last night. So I grabbed it.

Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton

Quin Kincaid has been put through years of brutal training for what she thinks is the noble purpose of becoming a revered ‘Seeker’.

Only when it’s too late does she discover she will be using her new-found knowledge and training to become an assassin. Quin's new role will take her around the globe, from a remote estate in Scotland to a bustling, futuristic Hong Kong where the past she thought she had escaped will finally catch up with her.

Chelsea's Thoughts: The blurb for this book on NetGalley is far more compelling than the one on Goodreads. Suffice to say, I was drawn in by Quin's expectations about her future, her thoughts about her loved ones all being turned upside down. I'm very intrigued by this one as it's a little outside the box of what I normally read.

What a Lady Requires by Ashlyn Macnamara

Perfect for fans of Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, and Sabrina Jeffries, Ashlyn Macnamara’s blazing hot novel tells the story of mismatched newlyweds who discover a simmering connection.

Unlike every other proper young lady, Miss Emma Jennings views marrying well as little more than a means to an end. Such a merger would provide her industrious father with social credibility, and Emma with a chunk of her vast inheritance. Emma’s practical views are shattered, however, when her father ties her to the fabulously handsome ne’er-do-well Rowan Battencliffe, a man she loathes on sight—from the smile that promises all manner of wickedness to the way he ogles her with those striking blue eyes.

Deep in debt, especially to his wine merchant, Rowan figures the sooner he gets his finances in order, the sooner he can go back to doing what he does best: burning through ridiculous sums of cash. Which is why Rowan agrees to marry the merchant’s daughter, a prim and proper woman with delightful curves and an ample dowry. But Emma seems to think it’s her business to reform him! Their marriage is a tinderbox—and it’s just too tempting to resist playing with fire.

Chelsea's Thoughts: I grabbed this one entirely because of the selling tag at the front. I don't think I even read through the rest of the blurb. I love Julia Quinn, Eloisa James and Sabrina Jeffries, and I've love to read another author in that vein. So What a Lady Requires had better live up to the expectations it's setting....

That's it for me this week - are you shocked? I am. I actually signed up for a bunch of book tours through late February, March and April, but I don't think any of the books have come back to me for those tours yet so I'm not including them this week!
