Sunday Update - June 7, 2015

Every now and again, I get my act together enough to put up a Sunday post!

I'm hooking into:

This is a meme hosted by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer wherein everyone gets to share their news for the week. It's a great opportunity to see what's happening out there in the blogosphere, so go check out some other Sunday Posters!

Today's post is going to have a few sections:

1. General Update

2. Currently...

3. Endless Possibilities Readathon

4. Blog Tours, Blitzes, and Facebook Parties, Oh My!

1. General Update

I've been working for a hybrid publisher called Booktrope since March of this year, doing some editing and proofreading work. You may have noticed a slowdown on this site during that period as I try to find a new balance. I'm getting there - just in time for summer! Yes, my daughter will be home full-time  again as of the end of the month, and I'm hoping to keep her pretty busy over the summer.

My plan right now is to set aside time specifically for the blog, and to protect it by really limiting the time I allow myself to fall into the black hole of the internet! I'll let you know how that goes...  ;)

2. Currently...

This is a meme I've borrowed from Coffee Bean Bookshop"Currently" is a questionnaire style update about what's going on at the moment in my life;

Reading: Hotblooded by Lisa Jackson
Watching: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I only watched the first half dozen episodes the first time around, so now this is my binge-watching show of choice.
Playing: Invisible Inc.: a delightful rogue-like featuring a spy agency. I already want DLC content for it - more variety in the maps, and additional mission types would be fantastic!
Feeling: Excited to see my daughter dance at her dance recital this morning, and nervous about how my two-year-old son will behave there.
Loving: Warm weather, giggling children.
Hating: How quickly weeds grow in my garden.
Planning: My son's second birthday party - family only!
Wanting: More hours in the day, always.
Thinking: I should start organizing my digital photos and getting them printed and put in albums and frames.

3. Endless Possibilities Readathon

I signed up for this Readathon with one of the tour companies I host for - the Good Tales Book Tours. I wanted to read *three* books, and I only made it through the first one: Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. It was pretty darn good - and I am happy about this because I already have the second one in hardcover!
Hopefully the next (as they're planned to be semi-annual) Readathon is at a time when I'm not quite so busy and can really sink into the reading.

As part of the Readathon, the tour company hosted a massive, three-day long Facebook party, with different authors checking in every thirty minutes and hosting different contests. It was pretty awesome. I grabbed a few freebie collections (I'll probably talk about these this week), and entered a few contests. If you're ever looking to meet new authors, I strongly recommend checking out Facebook book parties!

4. Blog Tours, Blitzes, and Facebook Parties, Oh My!

This week I'm hosting two blog tour stops (Monday and Friday), a Blitz (Wednesday), and I have two planned reviews for the days in between (of books I finished reading last week, so no excuses!).

I'm also going to do a post at some point about ebook sets/collections and another about the Facebook parties that I'm signed up for (with an invitation for all of you to go too!)

How was your week, what gems did you find online, what books did you read?  Let me know in the comments!

  3. It is hard to balance things sometimes. But putting aside time for your blog is a great idea. I need to do that, as well as time for writing. Hope you have a great week!
