Three Quick Reviews

From time to time, I binge-read books that I also need to review. And then I don't have a ton of thoughts to share about them. In the case of today's trio of books, I was a little on the fence about each of them, for different reasons. I'll try to explain why, and then you can tell me why I should love them.

Today we're looking at a pair of very different historical romances, and a contemporary romantic suspence.

Romance is in the air!

Blog Tour: Gambling on a Dream by Sara Walter Ellwood

I hadn't read Sara Walter Ellwood before this book, and it was the cover that lured me in. It has such a verdant, farm feel to it, I wondered how that jived with the book's blurb! From Lyrical Press and releasing June 9th, 2015, Gambling on a Dream is the third book in the Colton Gamblers series. Dawn and Wyatt, the leads, have a history together that looms large over their occasional efforts to work together in law enforcement. This all comes to a head when a case raises some of their issues, forcing them to confront where things went so right . . . and so wrong.

Cover Reveal: Macyn's Letter by S.L. Stacker

Covers are that first lure to hook me into buying a book. I have bought books based on covers (and genre) alone, before discovering what they're actually about. A good cover is marketing gold!
Today we're talking about S.L. Stacker's Macyn's Letter, the first book in the Macyn McIntyre series. Release on May 21st from Booktrope (a hybrid publisher for whom I do some editing and proofreading work), Macyn's Letter sounds like an intense romantic suspense!
Let me tantalize you with this blurb:
A near-death experience at the hands of her husband would cause any woman to cling to her crippling trust issues and dating phobia, and Macyn McIntyre is no exception. Falling into the lap of a sexy stranger may persuade her to change her mind, but before Macyn realizes what’s happening, a second potential love interest is vying for her affections.
When a threatening letter turns up in her mailbox, Macyn realizes choosing between two guys is the least of her worries. Abduction, violence, and rescue by an elite squad change the course of her life forever. When she seeks revenge on those who hurt her, she has to decide if she can trust the ones who vow they love her.
Will Macyn be able to overcome her past and use their aid in her vendetta, or will she take matters into her own hands?
Drum roll, please! Let's check out the cover . . .
