Christmas in October: A Bad Boy for Christmas by Jessica Lemmon

Happy Christmas in October!

This is my last Christmas in October book review! It's been great fun reading this set of five Christmas-themed books, I have to say. I'm a huge fan of the holiday, and while I also quite enjoy Halloween (and books that might be considered Halloween-y), there's just something about Christmas books that I find particularly delightful.

Please, tell me about your favourite Christmas-themed books in the comments!

'Tis the Season to Be Naughty

Connor McClain knows what he wants. And after four harrowing years in Afghanistan, that's a quiet life in the lakeside town of Evergreen Cove. But coming home has land mines of its own-the most dangerous of them being long-legged bombshell Faith Garrett. Now getting her into his arms this holiday is going to require more than mistletoe . . .

With a cheating ex behind her, all Faith wants is a relaxing holiday free from man drama. And even though every moment with gorgeous Connor is a sweet temptation, Faith is determined not to give in. But Jack Frost has other plans, and soon Faith and Connor are snowbound in a winter wonderland with only the sparks flying between them to keep them warm. As one hot kiss leads to another, they'll have to decide if they're ready to give each other the best gift of all-love.
Review:
Christmas Component:

A Bad Boy for Christmas really embraces the Christmas spirit, with plenty of decorating, baking, gift-giving, and holiday merrymaking. I loved the part that a hand-cut Christmas tree played, with some unconventional decorations, and the contrast of the holiday at both a rustic cottage and an impeccably decorated mansion.

This book easily deserves five Christmas presents out of five!

My thoughts:

I adored A Bad Boy for Christmas. Truly. There's this lovely, gentle, playful quality to this book, and it was exactly what I wanted when I picked it up.

Right book at the right time!

Connor and Faith are cute together, with strong chemistry, and a sweet, flirtatious relationship that finally has a chance to evolve into something more. Both of these two have been burned in the past, and I loved the way that they come together to heal and learn to trust again. Though Connor was right on the edge of overbearing for me, with his combination of stubborn bossiness and protectiveness, he was also patient and pretty sweet.

My favourite part of this story is that because it unfolds over several weeks, it feels much more organic as a romance than so many stories that are crammed into a week or a weekend or whatever. Connor and Faith have known each other and danced around each other for a while, but their story still takes time and develops through various events in their lives, rather than speeding ahead to a conclusion.

I loved Connor's family, and seeing the various characters from the first book in the series, which I reviewed, and I presume the second book, which I completely missed! Gloria's story, which I assume is coming, feels like it'll be heartbreaking. But it was sweet to see the other two couples so strongly in the mix.

Bottom line:

I missed book two in the Second Chance series, and I'm kicking myself for it now. Because A Bad Boy at Christmas was delightful! If you're looking for a festive romance to get you in the holiday spirit, or just love 'bad boys,' go grab yourself a copy!
